Maksim Chmerkovskiy has a reputation for speaking his mind on dancing with the stars. But the attack on Monday evening verbal judge Len Goodman has shocked even Derek Hough.
"I was personally very surprised," Hough, 26, told the people behind the scenes shortly after the incident, which went down to Goodman, 67, said Chmerkovskiy, 31, Hope Solo and partners - who have received a total score of 20 - that they carried out the "worst of the season of dance."
"I feel like the judges were incredibly generous," said Hough. "But we're all very emotional."
Hough says Chmerkovskiy, who suggested Goodman 50 years in the business of the ball may be too long, should not be surprised by the negative reviews from the judges.
"Being an experienced professional, we know how the show," he said. "We understand the ins and outs. Already last week, I just said Ricki [Lake] exactly what the judges say, literally word for word. You know what to expect. "
Chmerkovskiy dance hall left shocked when his replacement Goodman. Even Carrie Ann Inaba told him to be "respectful" and the referee. Chmerkovskiy also claimed responsibility for the hit ABC series, calling it "my show", adding that helped to "make it what it is."
